Thoughts on Comments – Part 12
I will be commenting on the comments from my previous series (here: https://copytestprove.com/thoughts-on-a-conversation-with-a-stranger-part-1/), and (of course, because it is my job) will link to a Bible scripture and/or tell of a specific corresponding situation. I agree with the sentiment, but it does say in the Bible that one sows, another waters, but God gives the increase.
There’s a whole parable of the sower and four results of the seeds that were sown. It specifically states that the seed is the Word and it’s gotta go out. That’s part of the job of every believer.
But I’m with you in the belief that we can’t convert. The decisions of every individual is between them and God. (If you like, I’ll can dig up the relevant Bible verses for that.)
The Biblical Parable
- The Story: A farmer scatters seeds that fall on four types of ground: a hard path, rocky soil, thorny weeds, and good, fertile soil.
- The Meaning: The seed is the word of God, and the soils represent different human hearts.
- The Outcome: Seeds on the path are eaten by birds (rejected); on rocks they wither with no roots (temporary faith); among thorns they are choked by worries (distracted faith); and on good soil they grow and produce a big harvest (true understanding and action).
That’s a wonderful story. Sometimes, seeds grow where you least expect it to happen. It’s beyond our understanding, but many things that God does are far beyond our ability to comprehend.
Thank you for sharing this reflection. I especially appreciated the reminder that we each have a role to play, whether we’re planting seeds or watering them, while recognizing that the outcome isn’t ours to control.
