Thoughts on Comments – Part 14
I will be commenting on the comments from my previous series (here: https://copytestprove.com/thoughts-on-a-conversation-with-a-stranger-part-1/), and (of course, because it is my job) will link to a Bible scripture and/or tell of a specific corresponding situation. These are comments from the comments (now we’re getting meta) Part 3 of the series (here: https://copytestprove.com/thoughts-on-comments-part-3/ )

There’s a whole section in the category on Prayer posted somewhere else in this blog (Link here: https://copytestprove.com/prayer/) about being specific in your prayers. The verse that comes to mind for this is from the book of James where he writes, ‘Ye have not because ye ask not.’ Then he goes on to say, ‘Ye ask and receive not because ye ask amiss that ye may consume it upon your lusts.’
The Bible definition of lust is not our modern translation or insinuation. In the Bible, lust is an intense, selfish, and unbridled desire—most often sexual, but also for material things or power—that turns away from God’s will and treats other people as objects.
So I believe we have to keep these things in mind when we pray, especially if we expect to get answers to our prayers.
An intense, selfish, and unbridled desire does sound really bad and not at all healthy. Thank you for the explanation of lust.
This is hard to comment on. I do not pray formally.
