When my dad was fundraising for our family’s move to India, back in the ’80s, things were moving pretty slowly, and he was getting discouraged about how long it would take. One day he read an article about how the Lord blesses giving, and the need to support missionaries on difficult mission fields. Despite the fact that he was raising funds to move to a mission field, and it was taking much longer than he would have liked, he made the commitment to dedicate all the finances from one day of fund-raising to send to some missionaries who were already on a mission field and in need of support. To his surprise, and even though he didn’t do anything unusual, on the designated day he raised three times the average of his previous fundraising efforts. Of course, there was the temptation to just send what he had anticipated raising and keep the rest, but as per his commitment, he sent the full amount. From that day forward, the tripled income become the new norm, and things came together very quickly for the anticipated relocation.
